Facts about Thailand

On January 21, 2009 in Travel Facts

If you want to travel to Thailand I suggest you look at some of these awesome facts. I have never been there myself but I had a group of friends come back from a 2 week adventure and they said “it was like living on a different planet”. Here’s a few reasons why:

* The country comprises 76 provinces
* The King has reigned for more than half a century
* Area: 513,115 sq. km.
* People: Thai (80%), Chinese (10%), Malay (3%), and the rest are minorities (Mons, Khmers, hill tribes)
* Overall the southern parts of Thailand get by far the most rain with around 2,400 millimeters every year
* Instead of a single main course with side dishes found in Western cuisine, a Thai full meal typically consists of either a single dish or rice khao with many complementary dishes served concurrently
